Oliver James was born in London in 1962. He studied at Christ's College, Cambridge, and was a teacher at the City of London School for Boys before becoming a clinical psychologist. His work as a clinical psychologist, specialising in personality disorders, has been published in numerous journals and books. He is the author of Overcoming Bipolar: The Complete Guide to Living Well with Manic Depression (2004) and other works on personality disorders.
